Lindstrand Team visit the Masai Mara

29th March 2010

To continue to provide support to our customers in Kenya Simon Forse (MD) and David Price (Service Engineer) have recently returned from a service visit to the Masai Mara.

These journeys afford us the chance to monitor the performance of Lindstrand equipment in the field, and to make suggestions as to how the design of the equipment may be changed to improve the serviceability and longevity of the balloons. This is especially important in environments like the Masai Mara where much of the damage to equipment comes from ground handling and transportation.

During this service visit we also assisted with the transition from the use of Nitrogen for fuel pressurisation over to using Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

We have developed a modified high pressure CO2 regulator which speeds up the pressurisation process. Flight trials proved successful and showed that CO2 provides an advantage in maintaining acceptable levels of pressurisation right through the contents of the fuel cylinders, without compromising the power output.
