CDA branded Lindstrand Balloon defined as “bold and successful” in 2010 Reed Advertising Awards.

19th February 2010

A balloon built by Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons has received a nomination in the prestigious Reed Advertising Awards.  The balloon, which was branded for the CDA, a key political party in the Netherlands, was used as an integral part of their campaign.

Campaign Manager Michael Sijbom said of the nomination “We are very honoured. It indicates that with relatively low budget, but with the necessary creativity, humour and guts you can achieve a compelling campaign.”  The balloon was nominated in the special category “Most Daring (and Successful) Tactic”.

The balloon, a Lindstrand160A, was designed by Dick van Straalen and features a Netherlands skyline. The balloon size was specifically designed and created especially for this contract, with high emphasis on as flat a profile as possible to the balloon to enhance the artwork.

It is believed to be the first time that a political party has had its own balloon.

“We are delighted with the news of the nomination” said Lindstrand Hot Air Balloons Managing Director Simon Forse.  “It underlines our message to the advertising world that branded hot air balloons can be a highly effective tool in building and maintaining brand awareness”.
