Single-T Baskets
These baskets are so named because of the shape of the internal sub-divisions within the basket forming the shape of a T. The typical sizes of envelopes that they are used with are 150,000 cu ft (4250m3) up to 310,000 cu ft (8780m3), for up to 13 persons.
Within the Single-T layout the pilot and fuel cylinders are provided with a separate compartment from the passengers, normally on the right hand side of the basket. This provides the pilots with a predictable, controlled environment from which they can fly the balloon. The burners are offset within the burner frame towards the pilots' side of the basket in order to improve access and control. Envelope control lines are designed so that they come down the right hand side of the envelope and enter the basket in the pilot compartment.
The structure of the Single-T baskets is very similar to the open baskets, with an upper and lower stainless steel frame, plywood floor and woven cane internal and external walls. The pilots' compartment is provided with step holes and cylinder strap holes, sufficient to carry six cylinders. All standard Single-T baskets are provided with attachment points for the Lindstrand pilots' harness and we recommend the use of this harness during all flights.
The two passenger compartments each have two footstep holes and are equipped with two rope handles for each occupant. Various levels of passenger compartment padding may be selected in order to make the balloon flight as comfortable as possible.
The Single-T baskets offer the most weight-efficient solution for the small to medium sized passenger ride operator and they also provide excellent 270o visibility for the pilot.
