Open Baskets
Open baskets are the range of smaller baskets which have no internal sub-divisions. They are usually used with envelope sizes between 35,000 cu ft (991m3) up to 150,000 cu ft (4250m3), for up to 6 persons. They are available with either a straight top edge or a swept top edge version is available in some of the sizes.
Each basket is hand-built to your order, which allows Lindstrand to offer you a high degree of special options, so that you can tailor your basket design to your particular needs.
The standard basket is constructed around two robust stainless steel frames. The lower frame is laced onto a 12mm thick plywood base, which itself is protected by the addition of Ash runners underneath. The top frame contributes to the rigidity of the basket, resulting in good looks throughout the long life of the basket.
Over the years we have made baskets out of many varied and different materials but we have always come back to weaving the baskets from top quality Kaboo or Perut cane. The natural composite structure of cane, along with the inherent strength created by weaving gives a light, flexible wall which is very resistant to impact whilst providing excellent shock absorption qualities. The cane is further protected by spraying with a flexible varnish.
The top frame is covered with foam cushioning and then finished in your choice of leather or suede in a variety of colours. We also provide the burner support rods and covers made in the colours and materials which match the rest of the basket and are supplied in a Cordura storage bag for transportation.
The bottom joint, between the lower stainless steel frame and the plywood floor is protected by the addition of rawhide.
All baskets are provided with step holes to help entry and exit and cylinder strap holes which normally allow for four fuel cylinders to be strapped into the basket. The larger sizes of open basket will have the provision for more cylinders to be carried.
