The Double-XT baskets have been specially developed for the large C-type envelopes with volumes of 500,000 cu ft (14158m3) or our largest passenger envelope, the 600,000 cu ft (16886m3), which is capable of carrying 33 persons. They are similar in design and construction to the standard Double-T basket but with the addition of a cross-wall in each of the passenger compartments. This arrangement increases the structural strength and rigidity over the increased length to these baskets.
The passengers in the end compartments are boarded over the end wall in the normal manner and the passengers in the inner compartments are boarded over the front and rear basket walls. Special foot step holes are added into these compartments to facilitate this.
The pilot compartment in the Double-XT baskets is widened so that three fuel cylinders can be installed on the front and rear walls of the compartment. There are cylinder strap holes sufficient to allow a total of eight cylinders to be carried.
